persuasive techniques

Today I was late to ELA  so when i walk into the classroom I hear that we are getting a new blog post assignment. Then when we got further instruction I was so happy to hear that we were doing our post on persuasive techniques. So the persuasive techniques I am doing are scare tactic, appeals to pity, and appeals to flattery.

To begin with I am using a Michelin man ad. The web address is  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF_I68jCwHg This commercial uses fear factor by stating that if you have michelin tires you are safer than you were before. I think that the ad is very effective and a lot of people will buy the tires.

Another commercial I'm using is an animal abuse ad. The web address is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SFHlekA6cw  This commercial is using appeals to pity.  It is also stating that you can help the poor animals. This ad will be very successful and many people will donate to the organization.

The last commercial is a commercial about cover girl. The commercial uses testimonial appeal. The commercial is trying to make you base your opinion on what the Ellen Degenerous. I think that the commercial will be very successful and many people will buy the cover girl product. http://deceiver.com/2009/02/13/ellen-degeneres-to-get-humane-society-award/

figurative language in music

Songs have figurative language in them we just don’t think about it enough. Defining figurative language, well figurative language consists of seven parts. The first is alliteration. The second is metaphor. The third is simile. The fourth is onomatopoeia. The fifth is personification. The sixth is hyperbole. The seventh is idiom. Also there are two poetic elements. The first is imagery the second is cliché.

You can count on me by Bruno Mars “you can count on me cause I can count on you.” These lyrics have alliteration in the words you can count on me. Alliteration is like a sentence that every word in it starts with C.

Just give me a reason by Pink “right from the start you were a thief you stole my heart. This has a metaphor comparing the one she loved and they stole her heart. What is a metaphor, a metaphor is comparing two things without using like or as.

Up all night to get lucky by Draft Punk and Pharrell Williams. “Like the legend of the phoenix all ends with beginnings.” These lyrics have similes. A simile is comparing two things using like or as.

All in all figurative language can be used in any thing. Even in music. And if you think about it long enough you will see that music is poetry in a way.
